Appleby Oak 2+2 Chest of Drawers

One drawer refuses to shut unless it is wiggled about a lot. Handle to another drawer not able to be fixed until I did some basic carpentry to make it possible - rebate too shallow. Drawers not deep enough. Stops on each drawer excellent.

I bought 2 units and paid extra for next day delivery. they arrived to plan and were unpacked upstairs. 1 was OK but the the other fell out of the box in many bits! Following a brief phone call to Cotswold the unit was removed and replaced 6 days later. I was refunded the next day delivery charge. The chests of drawer arrive assembled leaving only the wooden knobs to fit, unfortunately 5 of the 12 knobs had to be glued as the bolt didn't meet captive nut set into the knob. The units are well designed in that maximum use is made of the over all size but the tolerance on the 2 small drawers could be improved as the gaps are rather unsightly. If the problems outlined above had not occurred I would scored the units 4 in each category.

This chest of drawers is sturdy, well made and looks more expensive than it was. An excellent buy, and together with the Appleby double wardrobe & bedside cabinet bought at the same time, my guest bedroom is now complete. A very satisfied customer.

I liked the look of this chest that is why I bought it but I was disappointed that there were no metal runners for the drawers which would have made them slip in and out more easily. This would also prolong the life of the chest.

In the future I think I would prefer to actually see what I am buying.

When the furniture arrived, I was surprised to read "Made in China" on the packaging. I suppose I should have suspected something when I noticed that the "Cotswold Company" was actually based in Norwich. The drawers fit ok, primarily because the openings are quite large and thus give a margin for error. The handles are quite loose and the screws were often very rusty, requiring a squirt of WD40 to help with fitting. The wood has quite a few knots, which is not something I would associate with oak. I am glad we only paid sale price for this.

excellent, match my oak bedsted, fit well either side of bed, good quality ,colour good,arrived on time. only one niggle top drawer sometimes sticks when opening and closing

this item is spot on for my needs, one of the few sets of draws that fitted the height & width I needed & the quality i needed.

The chest of drawers is exactly as depicted and described. It is well constructed and stylish. The delivery was extremely efficient - on the day and in the time-slot quoted, the driver telephoning me to give half and hour's warning of arrival.
