While waving goodbye to the warm and sunshine-filled months of summer fills us with a sense of sadness, thoughts of cosying up beside the fire, preparing warming stews and reading in your favourite armchair while the wind and rain bluster outside, do sound somewhat appealing. It’s a time to hunker down, create a cosy and welcoming home and make the most of nights in. We feel less inclined to venture out when the evenings grow darker and the temperatures begin to drop. We tend to prefer the thought of getting home, putting our feet up and watching a good boxset, don’t we?

Weekends too offer the perfect opportunity for making the most of this change in seasons. From taking the time to enjoy an indulgent afternoon of baking or reading a few chapters, to chilly yet sunny Sunday afternoons spent taking the dog for a walk before preparing and sitting down to a delicious roast with the family.

From our hallways that welcome us home to our bedrooms that wish us goodnight, our living rooms become a space where we spend much of our time in autumn. Both alone and with company.

Here at The Cotswold Company, we know that every home is different. That everyone has a different place or space they call home.

Living room. Lounge. Sitting Room. Snug. Whatever you call it, and whether your decor style is more minimal or colourful, inspired by the past, charming or more contemporary, our timeless new range of upholstery styles – and complementary home accessories – will have a place in everyone’s living room.

Our Bowen sofa – shown above in Washed Teal Classic Velvet – would make an elegant and contemporary addition to your living room. A soft and subtle shade, it lends itself to a relaxed and modern decor scheme. A little bit Scandi-inspired, the button back makes it timeless and comfortable too. Our Light Wood Easel Floor Lamp adds a subtle nod to this simple living and minimalistic trend; while our new Ellwood Charcoal range offers something a little more modern and stylish when it comes to storage. And, for a touch of traditional, our Camille Limewash Oak collection adds a charming and weathered antique feel.

Choosing a cohesive colour scheme – in this instance, blue – works beautifully for making a space feel calm and relaxing.

After a long day at work, or a busy day out and about at the weekend, there’s nothing better than getting home and putting your feet up. Creating a cosy corner comes easy with our beautiful collection of new occasional armchairs. The Mabel, shown above in the Fir Matt Velvet, is elegant and universal. A perfect choice for any corner and available in 30 fabrics, there’ll be a colour to suit every living decor scheme.

Similar to the blue scheme above, we’ve gone for a fresh, clean and botanical feel here. Home accessories in matching and complementary green tones paired with warm white and cream furniture create a bright and welcoming space for the darker days of autumn.

When the sun starts to set that much earlier, many of us yearn for bright and bold spaces that still feel cosy and warm. Our beautiful Morris Sofa shown here in Deep Blue Matt Velvet makes a stylish starting point. The deep blue, although dark, complements an array of different colour schemes – from citrus shades like yellow and orange to more neutral soft hues like grey and creams. It makes the perfect statement whilst remaining a practical choice.

Tactile textures, like our baskets, soft rugs and wool throws all help to make a space feel that little bit cosier too – whatever colour scheme you choose – making them the perfect addition for the arrival of autumn.
