Following on from our blog post, Colours that go with oak furniture, we thought we would answer a few more of your questions and interior ponderings surrounding oak furniture. Boasting bundles of character, charm and warmth, there are many colours and textures that pair beautifully with this most-beloved and timeless wood grain.

While our previous blog post focused more on the darker shades of the colour wheel, we’ve highlighted more of a mix here, showcasing a few lighter shades we love to pair with our beautiful oak ranges too – with a range of accessories and soft furnishings to bring it all together.

Styling Camille Limewash Oak

With a beautiful rustic and subtle white-washed finish, our Camille Limewash Oak collection oozes elegance and French charm. We love styling this range with warm autumnal tones and pale greys to accentuate its distressed finish, and believe Purbeck Stone by Farrow & Ball sets it off beautifully. To complement its French farmhouse feel, add plenty of natural accessories like our Grey Kooboo Basket. We favour exposed floorboards in many of our location shoots, but often include a rug or two for warmth and comfort. Its rustic feel is accentuated by our Woven Round Seagrass Rug while the Clemento Round Wool Rug will add a soft cosiness.

Throws and cushions in mustard, ochres and browns will add warmth too. With its unique grey-washed finish, we find Camille Limewash Oak pairs beautifully with William Morris wallpapers – just like Golden Lily, seen here. If you love the prints created by William Morris but you’re looking for something a little less permanent, we have a selection of beautifully made cushions donning his famous patterns too.

Styling Appleby Oak

Crafted from a light oak, our Appleby Oak range is wonderfully versatile for any room in your home. For adding warmth to your hallway or comfort to your bedroom, it pairs beautifully with natural accessories like this Rope Handled Basket. To complement the lightness of its grain, we often pair this range with Farrow & Ball’s Dimpse. A bright velvet cushion in mustard adds a welcome splash of colour. Our textured, Scandi-style Lorens Runner will team beautifully with our Appleby Oak benches in the hallway too, ensuring a homely welcome.

Styling Hadley Smoked Oak

Much like our Camille Limewash Oak range, Hadley Smoked Oak is both timeless, elegant and wonderfully classic. Perfect for pairing with cooler toned greys and soft pink accessories, we would add our Lilac Velvet Cushion, Pink Geo Throw and Banan Woven Rug in the master bedroom to complement its modern yet regal feel. As with all our oak ranges, lots of natural textures work wonderfully to accentuate Hadley’s rich and rustic grain, from blanket baskets to this Bamboo Pendant Light for a contemporary, Scandinavian-inspired touch.

Styling Oakland

A favourite Farrow & Ball shade of ours, we love pairing Green Smoke with our timeless Oakland range. Perfect for a feature wall in the living room, it works beautifully with complementing prints – both traditional and more contemporary. We love this William Morris Strawberry Thief Cushion, together with pops of more neutral hues too – like our popular Coconut Rug and Champagne Velvet Cushion. Antique brass and metallics – like photo frames and candlesticks – offer a wonderful finishing touch, and pair particularly well with dark, smokey greens. Our Kanak Marble Lamp makes a stylish addition for the living room or for sitting beside your bed.

A timeless and durable investment then, our oak furniture remains wonderfully versatile. Whether you favour a rustic country style, a simple Scandi-inspired look or one a little more contemporary, it will fit seamlessly into your home and decor style, lasting for many years to come.
