Painted Pastels for Spring

‘Spring was moving in the air above and in the earth below and around him, penetrating even his dark and lowly little house with its spirit of divine discontent and longing’

The Wind in the Willows

Over the last few weeks, there has been a certain sense in the air that spring is finally on its way. Although still bitterly cold in many parts of the UK, and the weatherman still promising threats of snow, the lighter evenings and buds of crocuses poking through the frosty ground tell a much more promising story. There is something wonderfully uplifting about the start of spring – the cold, dark depths of winter are behind us and it’s time to look forward to the lighter, brighter and warmer (fingers crossed!) days ahead.

With Christmas now a distant memory, and Easter just around the corner, it always seems a fitting time of year for a refresh. For opening the windows, having a good declutter and putting a bit of zest back into the home as the spring sunshine shines through.

When it comes to spring cleaning and having a declutter, it’s always important to ensure you have sufficient storage. For stowing away those blankets used so liberally over the winter months, storing old books and toys that sentiment convinces you to keep hold of for another year, and keeping those muddy wellies out of sight.
