Painted Dresser Sideboard

A picture can hardly do justice to this magnificent country-style dresser. It’s sure to be a real talking point in your kitchen as well as providing ample storage for all your plates, cups, cutlery and china. Let’s start at the top: two glazed cupboards with a shelf in each plus a central, slatted shelf provide storage. And the gorgeous, hand-waxed oak top provides a lovely contrast to the white painted pine frame, which has been given a hand-applied layer of antique white lacquer to reveal the grain of the wood through the paintwork. Beneath, another piece of oak, with walnut inlays, provides a generous surface area for utensil pots and cookery books, plus there are four drawers and two roomy cupboards with simple knobs. Some might call it shabby chic; we just think it’s beautiful.
