The lovely Sian from @athomewiththehorsleys<\/a> has kindly shared three beautifully fun craft ideas with us – perfect for this Easter weekend! From bunny bunting to deliciously iced biscuits, each one is ideal for the kids to help with too.<\/p>\n

Bunny Bunting<\/span><\/h3>\n

\"\" \/<\/p>\n

– What you will need –<\/span><\/h4>\n

Wool<\/p>\n

Fork<\/p>\n

Paper pad\/card<\/p>\n

Scissors<\/p>\n

Pencil<\/p>\n

A glue\u00a0gun<\/p>\n

A piece of string\/ribbon\/wool to hang it from<\/p>\n

A hole punch if you have one (if not, you could use scissors)<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

– Method –<\/span><\/h4>\n

First decide how many bunnies you want to have on your bunting, for the purpose of this we will use 6<\/p>\n

To make the…<\/em> Pom poms\u00a0<\/span><\/h5>\n

Keeping the wool attached to the ball, begin wrapping around your fork. Think of how you’d wrap spaghetti around a fork.\u00a0 Wrap the wool around roughly twenty – thirty times (obviously the more you wrap the bigger the pom pom), keeping it wrapped tightly in the centre of the fork<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Cut the wool, leaving a couple of inches surplus whilst holding the wrap in place.\u00a0 Take the end of the wool and thread it through the middle prong of the fork from front to back. Then pull it underneath the wrap and back over the top a couple of times, marry it with the other end of the wool and tie them together, I always add two ties so it\u2019s secure<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Remove the wool from the fork<\/p>\n

Take your scissors and put them under the little loops you have created. As you cut the loops, you’ll see the pom pom begin to form<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Once you’ve cut all of the loops, go around the pom pom and cut any pieces of wool that may be sticking out too far, to help make sure the pom pom is symmetrical<\/p>\n

To make the…<\/em> Bunnies\u00a0<\/span><\/h5>\n

Cut six bunnies from the card you are using. You can either freestyle your own design or use the template attached<\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

With the help of an adult, use the glue gun to attach the pom poms to the cut bunnies and lay flat for a few moments allowing them to attach properly<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Use either the scissors or the hole punch, make a hole at the top of each of the bunnies\u2019 ears<\/p>\n

Thread the string through these holes and display!<\/p>\n

Refer to the \u2018bunny bunting\u2019 instructions above and make 1 bunny and a pom pom. Then simply glue the bunny to the front of your card!<\/p>\n

Card 2 \u2013 Easter chicken<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

– What you will need –<\/span><\/h5>\n

Card<\/p>\n

A mug to draw round<\/p>\n

A pencil<\/p>\n

Yellow card\/paper<\/p>\n

Orange card\/paper<\/p>\n

A black pen<\/p>\n

Glue<\/p>\n

– Method –<\/span><\/h5>\n

Using the yellow paper draw round your mug to make\u00a0two circles, cut these out, then fold each in half<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Using the glue attach the two semi circles (from the folded circles you\u2019ve just made) to the card to make a whole circle<\/p>\n

Taking the yellow paper again cut two \u2018wings\u2019.\u00a0 Attach these to the card using the glue<\/p>\n

From the orange paper cut a small triangle for the beak\u00a0and\u00a0two small love hearts for the feet<\/p>\n

Attach the beak to the floating yellow circle<\/p>\n

Using the black pen draw on an eye and two legs<\/p>\n

Attach the two feet to the legs!<\/p>\n

Card 3 \u2013 Finger print chickens<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

– What you will need –<\/span><\/h5>\n

Card<\/p>\n

Yellow paint<\/p>\n

Black pen<\/p>\n

Orange pen<\/p>\n

– Method –<\/span><\/h5>\n

Fold the card in half and cut an egg shape from it, ensuring you have both a flat edge at the bottom so the card can stand and leaving the join intact<\/p>\n

Using the yellow paint get your child to dip their finger in then press onto the card (I find it works best when the finger isn\u2019t loaded with paint, so I do into the paint, onto a spare piece of paper and then the card!)<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

When the paint has dried, use the orange pen to add a beak and black pens to add eyes and legs<\/p>\n

Easter Watercolour Biscuits<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

\u00a0\"\"<\/p>\n

Bowl & mixing spoon\/ food processor\/electric mixer<\/p>\n

Weighing scales<\/p>\n

Shaped cutter<\/p>\n

Rolling pin<\/p>\n

Paint brush<\/p>\n

– What you will need (makes approximately 10 biscuits depending on shape) –<\/span><\/h5>\n

For the… <\/em>biscuits<\/span><\/p>\n

175g\u00a0plain flour,\u00a0plus extra for rolling out<\/p>\n

\u00bd\u00a0tsp\u00a0bicarbonate of soda<\/p>\n

1\u00a0tsp\u00a0ground ginger<\/p>\n

\u00bd\u00a0tsp ground\u00a0cinnamon<\/p>\n

65g butter<\/p>\n

90g\u00a0soft\u00a0brown sugar<\/p>\n

1\u00a0small\u00a0free-range\u00a0egg<\/p>\n

2\u00a0tbsp\u00a0golden syrup<\/p>\n

For the…\u00a0<\/em>decoration<\/span><\/p>\n

Ready to roll fondant icing<\/p>\n

Food colouring of choice<\/p>\n

Small amount of icing sugar<\/p>\n

Water<\/p>\n

– Method –<\/b><\/span><\/h5>\n

Biscuits<\/span><\/p>\n

Preheat the oven to 180C\/160C Fan\/Gas 4. Line two baking trays with greaseproof paper<\/p>\n

Sift together the flour, bicarbonate of soda, ginger and cinnamon and pour into the bowl\/food processor\/mixer<\/p>\n

Add the butter and mix until it looks like breadcrumbs then stir in the sugar<\/p>\n

Lightly beat the egg and golden syrup together, add to the mix until it all clumps together<\/p>\n

Tip the dough out, knead briefly until smooth<\/p>\n

Wrap the dough in cling film and leave to chill in the fridge for 15 minutes<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Roll the dough out to a 0.5cm in thickness on a lightly floured surface. Using cutters, cut out the shapes and place on the baking tray, leaving a gap between them<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Bake for 12\u201315 minutes, or until lightly golden-brown<\/p>\n

Leave on the tray for 10 minutes and then move to a wire rack to finish cooling<\/p>\n

– Decoration –<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n

Knead your white fondant icing until pliable<\/p>\n

Using the same cutter as before, cut out an equal number of fondants to match your cookies. You may need to do this in two sessions and re-roll your fondant in between<\/p>\n

Mix a small amount of icing sugar and water to use to attach your fondant to your biscuit<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Using a colour mixing palate or small plate, put a few drops of your chosen food colouring and add a tiny drop of water to each<\/p>\n

Using your brush, add brush strokes of colours to the fondant \u2013 taking care not to get the fondant too wet. Repeat on all cookies and then leave to dry<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

If you have any edible glitter or gold dust, this adds a lovely touch too!<\/p>\n
