With 14% of the UK saying their New Year\u2019s resolution for 2022 was to redecorate their home (YouGov) and 19% of UK Pinterest users using it to choose home decor, we were keen to find out what it takes for people to make the right interior design\u00a0decisions.<\/em><\/p>\n

What does it mean to be\u00a0\u2018Pindecisive\u2019?<\/h2>\n

\u2018Pindecisiveness\u2019 describes the process of scrolling through paint colours, swatches, styles, or furniture on Pinterest before choosing home d\u00e9cor. If you take pleasure in collecting many Pins or swatches before deciding on paint colour, fabrics, or a piece of furniture for your home, you could be Pindecisive\u00a0too.<\/p>\n

Our study revealed that people who use Pinterest for interior design were more likely to take their time to come to a decision but were also less likely to regret their decision.\u00a0We\u2019ve collaborated with interior design expert, Hannah Simmons<\/strong>, to take the pain out of Pindecision with a useful guide on how to make the best interior decisions for your\u00a0home.<\/p>\n

How many Pins does it take to make the right\u00a0decision?<\/h3>\n

Surveying 1000 Pinterest users, we discovered 36% of users pin between 11-50 items before they can reach a conclusive decision.\u00a0Those who used Pinterest for home d\u00e9cor choices were less likely to regret their decisions, with 11% likely to regret their decision compared to 19% of people who did not use Pinterest for interior\u00a0decisions.<\/p>\n

\"cotswoldWhich room causes the most\u00a0\u2018Pindecision\u2019?<\/h3>\n

Our survey revealed that the lounge<\/a> causes the most \u2018Pindecision\u2019 with 33% of people saying it was the room they had the most difficulty making\u00a0interior decisions for, perhaps due to having to accommodate multiple functions and people, from yourself, family as well as\u00a0guests.<\/p>\n

The bedroom<\/a> came in second with 17% of people saying it was the room they struggled most with. With bedroom being our place of sanctuary after a long day and the importance of sleep, it makes sense to spend time considering the impact on our\u00a0wellbeing.<\/p>\n

How to make better interior design\u00a0decisions<\/h2>\n

There are over 16.7 million monthly active Pinterest users in the UK and 3.2 million people using it to make interior design decisions. With 12% of people say they use it to reduce anxiety around decision making, we wanted to show how people could simplify the decision-making\u00a0process.<\/p>\n

The Cotswold Company<\/a> consulting Interior Design expert, Hannah Simmons,<\/strong> has created the ultimate interior step by step guide to help people make the right decision sooner.\u00a0Hannah said of the chart: \u201cToo much choice online can feel overwhelming and make it harder to reach decisions. These cues are designed to simplify the process, narrow options, and empower people to feel confident in their interior design\u00a0choices.\u201d<\/p>\n

How do you make sure your interior design decisions last the test of\u00a0time?<\/h3>\n

Try before your buy! When investing in a key piece of furniture such as a sofa<\/a> or bed<\/a>, do go to and try it out before purchasing. Also, make sure you look at the scale of the furniture you are considering buying, what looks great in someone else\u2019s home may look out of place in your\u00a0own.<\/p>\n

Finally, don\u2019t forget the finishing\u00a0touches!<\/h2>\n

Throws<\/a>, pillows<\/a>, rugs<\/a>, curtains and lighting can all play a role in tying a room together.
