\"lisianthus,<\/a><\/p>\n

Each building we\u00a0visit has a new story to tell and makes us look at our furniture in a completely new way. On this trip we visited a very special building\u00a0in a state of disrepair. This fascinating place was\u00a0once was an incredibly large baroque home for a wealthy London family in the 1850’s\u00a0but since then has been\u00a0cut up and adapted into several guises including (until recently) a hotel.<\/p>\n

\"Behind<\/p>\n

Inside, the\u00a0years of\u00a0renovation have been peeled back and exposed, as it awaits redevelopment. Each room reveals layer upon layer\u00a0of\u00a0ornate architecture and heart-breaking neglect.<\/p>\n

\"Cheltenham<\/p>\n

For the purposes of our shoot it provided a\u00a0back drop of enchanting\u00a0character and\u00a0stunning texture to our Cotswold Company <\/a>home, so we thought we’d take you behind the scenes and share some of our favourite features of this remarkable building and some key styling tips for you to look out for…<\/p>\n

\"hydrangers,<\/a><\/p>\n

Hyacinths were a\u00a0dominant floral component for this shoot and we teamed it\u00a0here with some rigid eucalyptus, to give it even more height and presence on the furniture.<\/p>\n

\"Abundance<\/a><\/p>\n

They\u00a0looked beautiful\u00a0against this abstract painted wall and surrounded by an abundance of roses, succulents, craspedia and veronica.\u00a0The colour of our Oakland Small Sideboard<\/a>\u00a0gives a nice warmth to the pastel pallet of flowers and\u00a0the wall behind.<\/p>\n

\"Swan,<\/a><\/p>\n

We also love our delicate ceramic swan, filled here with a\u00a0dusty coloured\u00a0succulent and surrounded by our vintage pots and bon bon tins. This look was great fun to\u00a0put together\u00a0and though\u00a0achieving this in the home might be a little indulgent, grouping multiple\u00a0bouquets of flowers\u00a0together on one piece of furniture is\u00a0incredibly impactful\u00a0and worth giving a go at least once!<\/p>\n

\"Burford_Bookcase\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Take\u00a0a look at some of the wall detailing that accompanied our Burford Bookcase<\/a>.\u00a0You’d think this kind of\u00a0intricate moulding would\u00a0be reserved for a palace but\u00a0in\u00a0a 1850’s\u00a0home of this status\u00a0it\u00a0would have been part of one of the grand bedrooms or reception\u00a0rooms. The level of craftsmanship throughout the 19th century parts of this building\u00a0were breath-taking. We\u00a0struggled to imagine\u00a0all the\u00a0painstaking hours that went into making it so beautiful.<\/p>\n

\"Gold<\/a><\/p>\n

We’ve generated a collection of ornate gold frames over the years and we particularly loved the way\u00a0they looked with our group of brass candle sticks. Using an abundance of gold on\u00a0our Caldecote Wine Rack<\/a>\u00a0really elevated it from a practical piece of furniture to\u00a0an eye-catching\u00a0centrepiece. Take a moment to look at the enormous skirting boards that surrounds our humble wine rack. Even when painted white, with plain white walls you can still get the sense of grandeur this room must have had in its heyday.<\/p>\n

\"Grey<\/a><\/p>\n

We also\u00a0used our antique gold frames to punctuate\u00a0the grey on grey look we achieved with our Boston Light Grey Chest<\/a>.\u00a0This look also features our\u00a0NEW Corcoran\u00a0lighting<\/a>, a beautiful ceramic lamp with a cork base and simple shade,\u00a0a modern twist on a classic shape.<\/p>\n

\"Lamp,<\/a><\/p>\n

If you want to spot some more of our latest\u00a0accessories take a look at our Caldecote French Grey Curved Console<\/a>. It houses our new Arka Table Lamp<\/a>, a classical\u00a0shape and\u00a0a pale wooden finish that works well with the rustic flaky wall of the old hotel in the background.<\/p>\n

\"Wooden<\/p>\n

Our new\u00a0Horatio Mantle Clock<\/a> can be found perched neatly on top of our Regatta Grey headboard<\/a>. This sturdy little clock has a warm wooden finish and\u00a0a silent sweep movement, that wont\u00a0keep\u00a0you awake through the night.\u00a0Its accompanying faces\u00a0can also tell you the temperature and humidity in the room.<\/p>\n

\"Kitchen,<\/a><\/p>\n

Our Cotswold Co\u00a0Kitchen<\/a> is often filled with a mixture of modern cookbooks and vintage pots, pans, crockery and cutlery.\u00a0The\u00a0Leon <\/a>cookbook\u00a0has become\u00a0a firm favourite\u00a0of ours along with the, perhaps lesser known, Canteen, Great British Food<\/a>\u00a0book which is full of culinary treasures.\u00a0We particularly loved the\u00a0deep red and rusty look of the wall behind the Wiltshire Painted Dresser featured in this shot.<\/a>\u00a0It gives a warm balance to\u00a0the\u00a0clean cream paint finish of this piece.<\/p>\n

\"Rustic<\/p>\n

Cream\u00a0is a key colour among our painted furniture\u00a0ranges <\/a>as its neutral\u00a0pallet gives\u00a0a huge amount of flexibility to your d\u00e9cor.\u00a0Our Mottisfont Range<\/a> will sit well against almost any background but here we’ve photographed\u00a0our Chest of Drawers\u00a0<\/a>with a\u00a0thoroughly distressed wall, completely untouched since the late 1800’s. The crumbling\u00a0plaster and flaking wallpaper\u00a0add a touch of romantic drama to our beautiful piece of bedroom furniture<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"Grey<\/a><\/p>\n

This room also played host to our chic Regatta\u00a0Bedroom\u00a0Furniture<\/a>. The contrast between the dark,\u00a0smooth, grey painted <\/a>finish and\u00a0the\u00a0decomposing wall, with\u00a0subtle yellowy tones, complemented each other beautifully. We also think\u00a0the Astrid Yellow Throw<\/a>, featured in this shot,\u00a0works\u00a0particularly well with the Regatta Range<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"Plant,<\/p>\n

Plants always feature heavily in our Cotswold Company Home<\/a>, but one of our favourite horticultural finds on this shoot was this charming\u00a0Alocasia. There’s so much detail on the leaves that\u00a0they almost look\u00a0man made\u00a0and their shape is incredibly unusual,\u00a0resembling some kind of mini prehistoric\u00a0species.<\/p>\n

\"Succulents,<\/a><\/p>\n

We adorned our Oakland Coffee Table<\/a>\u00a0with\u00a0a collection of stunning succulents. We particularly loved the varied texture we created in our large wooden bowl and\u00a0the Soleirolia soleirolii plant in our vintage green dish, otherwise known to us as Fozzywig!<\/p>\n

\"Chives,<\/p>\n

Displaying a few fresh herbs in your kitchen area can really liven up the surface space and of course give you access to a little extra taste and texture. We found\u00a0this beautiful vintage pot from a second hand shop and used it to house\u00a0our\u00a0handsome chive.<\/p>\n

\"Dining,<\/a><\/p>\n

We’ve also scattered a few herbs and succulents\u00a0across our Westbury Grey Table Set<\/a>\u00a0and coupled it with\u00a0our simple stoneware\u00a0tea set. We love the understated, humble\u00a0look of these ceramics and how the beautiful iron specks filter through the clay, making each piece of this set completely unique.<\/p>\n

\"Ivy,<\/a><\/p>\n

The trusted ivy complements Oak <\/a>beautifully, especially when positioned up high and allowed to cascade down the length of the furniture. Using ivy on items like bookcases<\/a> and wardrobes<\/a> is a great way of introducing a bit of mother nature to\u00a0a room.<\/p>\n
