This is another fine piece from The Cotswold Company. Beautifully made. I bought this for the office at home. I'm hoping this will help my husband get organised. Fingers crossed that the questions "where is..." and "have you seen..." will be asked less.

Attractive and good quality item, not a really practical one but my wife wanted it for trinkets and other small things which brighten up the room. One really negative observation is that the very small hanging plates / brackets on the rear of the unit are totally inadequate. The unit is Oak and therefore quite weighty and the very small screws holding the brackets could very easily pull out causing the unit to fall from the wall possibly causing significant damage. The type of brackets are not appropriate to this sort of wall hung shelf unit. I would recommend a similar type of fixing such as kitchen wall cupboards / units. These typically have male / female brackets fixed to the unit and wall respectively, and the unit is simply hooked over the wall bracked. The important additional fixing is a further screw [more than 1 depending on size of unit] positioned towards the bottom of the unit ~ usually internally ~ which prevents the unit from being accidently pushed upwards and coming out of the wall bracket. I removed the brackets and screwed the unit directly to the wall through the wodden frame of the unit with 4 screws. This has made it absolutely secure, but it would be wise for you to ask the manufacturers to provide a much better fixing method before selling more of these units. It would be preferable not to have had to drill the unit to achieve a safe fitting, but the brass screws are not unsightly, although it would have been preferable to have had a well designed and secure method of fixing incorporated within the design of the otherwise very nice product!

Elegant utility. You will find it invaluable for 'stuff'. Well made piece of furniture.
