Looks good and feels solid!

I went to Cotswold as I remember them from some years ago as producing good quality furniture. I purchased both the 3 drawer and the 2 drawer filing cabinets for a newly refurbished home study based on the photographs, descriptions and Light Oak wood sample. It was somewhat of a disappointment when, upon delivery, I noted they were made in China - I was expecting, at the price, to get something UK manufactured. Unfortunately, disappointment did not end there. The quality of the wood is, in my opinion, poor. The drawers are ill-fitting and they, along with the backs of the cabinets, are thin and flimsy, leaving me in doubt regarding their durability. The handles and runners are of a very low quality alloy of some kind - almost plastic in feel and lacking the rigidity needed in a utilitarian item of furniture; certainly no comparison to what I have come to expect of previous filing cabinets I have owned. Of greater concern is the fact that there is no mechanism to prevent all the drawers being opened at once which could result in the cabinet tipping forwards with potentially unwelcome consequences. The 'solution' to this is a very thin strap and a screw which one is supposed to drill into the wall and attach to the cabinet. What happens if you want to move furniture around at any time - I guess you have start filling and painting over holes in the walls? In summary, they look okay from a distance but that's about it. I wouldn't recommend these items to anyone and I don't know if I will shop at Cotswold again if this is what one can expect

Beautiful filing cabinet, takes foolscap files. It looks so good that I have it in my lounge and people are surprised when I tell them what it is.
