Comparing with similar one purchased from large High Street supplier several years ago, I would give this about 4 stars for build quality and probably 5 for value for money. However, general quality, style and design of those currently in big stores seems to have deteriorated since then as well, so hard to tell. Unit arrived with scratch on top where a sharp object had penetrated the packaging. (There is a lot of packaging but in reality it does not offer that much protection) Cotswold immediately offered to replace or make a small price adjustment but we decided to keep it as it was a simply perfect fit in our living room alcove - even 1 mm longer would have been a problem and we did not want to take the risk of the next one being slightly different. Incidentally, the size was just as stated in the description. Some wood on the inside edges was not fully stained, but this seems to be a common problem with this type of furniture regardless of price or where you buy it, and easily rectified if it worries you. One point to note is that even if buying from a big town center store, the unit you see is almost always a display model, and the one you get is shipped direct (via their warehouse) from the Far East with its original packaging unopened, just like this one. It is therefore just as vulnerable to damage in transit, and in fact the one we bought in town was actually badly broken and had to be replaced, so buying on the High Street is just as likely to give a problem in this respect as buying off the internet. In short, we are pleased with our purchase and cannot fault the service from Cotswold at all as they were quite willing to collect and replace it had we wished. It looks good in our lounge and blends in with similar but more expensive furniture. We would certainly deal with The Cotswold Company again. Geoff, Gloucestershire.

We wanted a unit that was solid and attractive, and the size to fit into a space next to the fireplace. Very nice!
I bought this with the Oak Home Office desk because they both fit together into an alcove which isn't wide enough for both units apart from these two. good solid and attractive unit.
