Slatted Office Chair

It's sad because I love finding reproduction vintage-esk furniture and so I wish I could leave some good news, but this is the second time unlucky ordering furniture from Cotswolds for me. This chair came with unfinished wood (that needed to be sanded to avoid a splinter), and a serious lilt "to boot". A few days later and the lilt turned out to be a broken wheel socket which no longer holds the wheel in place (leaving the chair completely unstable). I called to have this taken care of and was told that because I had sanded the roughness out of the chair it made the warranty invalid. They are chasing the broken part so that I can hopefully fix it, but my faith and business is going elsewhere next time.

The Cotswold Company Reply Our sincere apologies that this item arrived in a condition that the customer was not happy with. Had we been advised of these issues, we would have been more than happy to arrange for a quality control checked replacement to be sent out as an exchange, but as the customer informed us over the phone that they had already sanded this chair and painted it a different colour, the warranty has unfortunately been invalidated. We are however in the process of arranging for a replacement wheel socket to be sent out to them to fix the existing chair as requested.

Disgusted with the packaging on this product. No protection on the extremities of the chair, cardboard sellotaped around the item. No chance it was going to be delivered undamaged. Customer services have blamed the manufacturers as though they have nothing to do with the quality of the delivery. Had to send it back. Very poor indeed. Nothing helpful or even slightly verging on customer service from the company. Stick to John Lewis.

The Cotswold Company Reply We were very sorry to hear that that this item appears to have arrived with damage that was caused in transit. As this customer points out, all of our products are packaged by our manufacturers, athough we do take any instances of transit damage very seriously and work closely with them to ensure that any necessary improvements to the packaging are made. In relation to this particular order, we offered to send the customer a replacement chair that would be thoroughly quality control checked and would also ask the team at our Distribution Centre to bubble wrap the item prior to despatch. The customer refused this offer and advised that they would like a full refund instead as they had returned the chair with the delivery team, which we of course agreed to process immediately.
