Bench and Shelf Set

This is my second order from Cotswold, based on my satisfaction with the first bench received earlier this year. Whilst the bench met my expectations, the shelf was slightly disappointing, being less well finished. It was also heavy and awkward to lift, & my husband & I struggled to get it hung on the wall - a third pair of hands would have been useful. We were irritated to find the holes for the mounting screws were not drilled through, although this was easily remedied. However, the screws & rawlplugs supplied were wholly inadequate & my husband had to use heavier duty ones & enlarge the screw holes. In other words, putting the shelf up was a right performance! I was very disappointed by the time it took to meet the order - the delivery was given as 12-14 weeks at the point of ordering, which was bad enough, but 8 weeks after placing the order, the advised date started to slip and delivery was finally made after 18 weeks. What made this even more irritating was the fact that the full sum had been taken from my credit card account at the point of ordering. Most companies I deal with either take the money when goods are despatched or take a deposit, with the balance on despatch (this includes a company from whom we bought a bespoke piece of furniture). On balance, I shall think very carefully before ordering from you again.

I purchased this bench and shelf unit set for our hallway in our new house. It looks lovely with the wooden floor and the green Laura Ashley wallpaper. The service from The Cotswold Company was spot on, delivering before 9am on the day I had specified upon purchase. The boxes were big and heavy as they are not flat packed, but fully made which is great. I think the quality is good, however my husband thought that two fixings on the back of the Shelf Unit were not enough for our amount of coats etc, so he added two. The bench is solid, but does creak a little when sat on. We get 2-3 pairs of shoes or boots in each basket depending on size. I have given 5 stars for value for money as I did quite a lot of research for hallway furniture and most cost this amount just for a bench, and 4 stars for build quality because my husband insisted on it! Although I think it does the job nicely.

We needed a unit to put in our porch to hang and store a busy family of 5's coats and shoes. This product has fulfilled that need, looks great and very contemporary, the baskets are sturdy and much deeper than expected, can fit 3 pairs of teenage trainers in each. We were having skirting fitted in the porch so asked the joiner to fit the shelf as husband not gifted in DIY, he said the attachments supplied were not strong enough and used his own. Apart from that, this product is perfect practically and looks great, really pleased.
