Shaker Cupboard

This review is unfortunately not about the Shaker Cupboard that I ordered (which arrived damaged), but rather about the appalling customer service that I received afterwards. There is literally nothing at all positive that I can say about the Cotswold Company regarding there customer care and returns system. Don’t expect the delivery company to remove the item from the packaging, as they are apparently instructed by Cotswold Company not to do so. On unpacking it and discovering the damage (in my case, a large hole broken through the back of the unit) and reporting it to the showroom (as no paperwork accompanied the delivery offering a contact number in the event of damage), do not expect a return call from customer services as you are told you will do by the showroom representative. In fact don’t ever expect a call from a customer services representative! Do expect an email asking for numerous photos showing the damage, the packaging, the entire item etc. etc. - saying that only then will they be able to see what can be done?!!! Do expect to be told to make sure the item is packed for safe return travel (this was fine as I hadn’t even touched the inner packaging when I saw the big hole and realised that the box had just been taped over with packing tape, where it had been damaged). Do expect to have to print off the return label. Don’t expect to have it collected from the 1st floor where it had been delivered to. Expect to be told by the collection company that they only operate a hallway service. Do expect to have to urgently call on a friend to help carry the Cupboard down to the hall. Don’t expect to receive a timely refund. Not going to happen. I will never order from Cotswold company again as I am not prepared to risk the hassle and bad service if the product is damaged and needs to be returned. Life is too short!

I felt the cabinet was of poor quality. The side and front panels are not made of solid wood, rather a very thin ply wood. The shelves were not very secure and didn’t feel they fitted particularly well. It also felt very wobbly on its feet and unsteady. It felt that it was a lot of money to spend on a poor quality item such as this. I didn’t feel the item matched the quality you expect from the cotswold company. My item actually arrived damaged so it has been returned, however had this not been the case I don’t think I would have kept it.

Arrived damaged in two places. Emailed customer team with photos and almost a week later still waiting for a response- very poor. Insist your item is unpacked and inspected before the delivery team leave. Very disappointed.
