How to care for a new mattress

A Cotswold Company Care Guide

Your mattress is an important investment, and with proper care can provide you with years of comfortable sleep. Here are a few simple tips to help you get the most out of your new Pure Natural, Cotswold Classic and Cotswold Essential mattress.

Mattress care tips

  • Once delivered, it is a good idea to leave your mattress to air and rest for several hours. Allowing additional time to air when changing the bedding is also recommended.
  • First, always use a mattress protector. This will help to keep dust and dirt from accumulating on the mattress, and it will also prevent spills from damaging the mattress.
  • We recommend turning your Pure Natural mattress once every two weeks for the first few months, and monthly thereafter. This helps the natural fillings to move and ensures long-lasting comfort. For designs which can be used on both sides we recommend turning your mattress once every two weeks for the first few months, and monthly thereafter.
  • Use only a soft brush to clean your mattress and remove any dust or debris that has built up as hoovering, however gentle, will damage it.
  • Every six months, we recommend rotating your mattress from top to bottom to ensure that it wears evenly. Please never try to fold or bend your mattress as this will cause damage particularly on a Pure Natural Collection mattress due to the traditional hand-stitching methods used.

By following these simple tips, you can help to prolong the life of your mattress and keep it looking its best.
