Oval Granite Top Island

Unfortunately my review is not going to be a good one and I will try to keep as brief as possible. We were firstly very disappointed with the delivery team who were so unprofessional and to be blunt awful. Having already had my delivery cancelled due to snow which is understandable, when they next arranged delivery the 2 man team spent 30 minutes on the phone talking to head office saying they wouldn't be able to carry it to my house as there were some steps and it would be to heavy as he was injured! I informed them I had emailed and informed them well in advance the delivery information including there were a few steps DOWN to the property. They were not even going to try and attempt to take it off the lorry. I asked again if they could at least try as this was the second time I had taken time away from my job for the delivery slot and being a school teacher not an easy thing to do. Well they managed to bring it in with no real problems so all that fuss about it being to heavy! After all that when the item was unpacked it was damaged and therefore no good. I contacted customer services who informed me there was a 12 week wait for another and I could keep that one until the other came into stock and for the delivery team to continue putting the kitchen island together and attaching the granite top to the main base. Well just to top it off they use this bonding pink putty gunk to glue it on and used far to much and it all spilt down onto the wooden doors and looked awful. There response was oh that's fine it just peals off when it's dry! Well would like to see them get if off. There's no way it will come off unless you use a knife which would scratxh it. My husband took one look and I can't repeat what he actually said. It was as if they had no clue what they were doing. The quality is not as good as it looks in the pictures and the granite had not been polished properly in certain areas. You could quite clearly see joins of where 2 peices had been fitted together and the joins on the side. It had clearly not been quality checked before it came to us or the Cotswold company have no idea what is going on once it arrived at the BJS distribution delivery company they use. I hope it's just a one off and the replacement item is better quality and a different team deliver!

Iit is a lovely piece, although a granite cover came badly treated on the sides.

The island is sturdy and beautiful not too big but an excellent extended storage option- my only reservation is as mentioned before the crew who “glued” the granite top to the base struggled and the finish isn’t great with glue leaking out - was also advised to “scrape” off the excess- it’s not great but unless you bend down to look under it... but there must be a better way to fix the top on? The unit has refreshed my kitchen with a modern feature perhaps a drawer in future designs as the tray/boards are a bit redundant.
