Product has a rustic, hand-waxed finish which is then sealed in clear lacquer to provide a rich hardwearing finish. Please note that each product is crafted from solid oak and oak veneers, which will be inherently unique in its grain, composition and colouring. I absolutely love this shoe bench, it's beautifully made and so handy- I sit the kids on the top to do their shoes for school!

Solidly built but either the wax finish or natural lacquer finish which should provide durability was patchy but as I put in carpet pieces
to protect the wood from shoe soles for me that wasn't a major issue.
The bench cushion has a removable off white cover which is hand washable only and has with a zip running the length of the cushions under side which means the cushion can go one way up only. This is not very practical and it means I will have to get a cover for the bench cushion to protect it.
